Looking for something new and cool and Jewish-y?

Check out the Kitchen's Hello Mazel Jewish boxes.  As they describe them:

"Hello Mazel is a quarterly box of Jewish stuff. Sent from [them], to you.

Think of it as your Jewish, designed for both the Jew and Jew-curious, "bad Jews" and "super Jews" alike.
Everyone needs a little mazel.

[They] launched on Kickstarter for our first-ever box in Spring 2016 and quickly became the most-funded Jewish project in Kickstarter history. Now you can get yours for Rosh Hashanah or Hanukkah.  You know, the usual Jewy stuff."

Click here to get more information, get a box for yourself, or send one to someone you love. And even if you don't want to order a box, check out the great video they made about it.  Watch for Rabbi Noa Kushner: she's in it!

WHAT'S NEW...

Shanah Tovah 5782!

The Jewish month of Elul has begun.  It's a time for reflection (teshuva in Hebrew) on where we've been and how we'd like to improve in the coming year.  In the next couple of months we'll eat apples and honey and round challahs on Rosh Hashanah.  We'll fast on Yom Kippur.  We'll blow the shofar, build a sukkah, and restart the Torah from the beginning.  It's a time for deep thinking but also a time for family, friends, and joy.  And for me, it's the time I look forward to each year, when my students return from summer break so that we can resume our friendship and learning together.

This year, may we find within ourselves the strength to work for equality and fairness in our country and to fight the tide of fear and hatred.  I wish you all a Shanah Tovah, Happy New Year.  May you and your families have a year of sweetness and joy.
