What you can expect…

I offer small-group classes in my home for 4th-7th graders with the objective of guiding each of my students along his or her own personal Jewish journey.

Classes cover a variety of subjects including torah stories, holidays, life cycle, Israel, Holocaust, prayer, Hebrew reading, tzedakah (giving), etc.  During our classes we sing, play games, cook, create art, engage in text study and deep discussion, and most importantly, connect with one another.  We take Jewish learning seriously, and we have fun doing it.

I challenge my students to analyze, evaluate and compare texts, ideas, and ethical dilemmas.  And I encourage them to develop a personal relationship to religious questions.

For families that choose to create their own bar/bat mitzvah service, I offer: consultations and assistance in creating the service itself, education and preparation for the service, and facilitation of the service along with the child.  If desired, I provide musical accompaniment.

I have been teaching Hebrew and Jewish studies since high school and I continue to be inspired and educated by my young students.  This work gives me great joy, and I cherish the opportunity to get to know your children and help them to have meaningful Jewish experiences.
